The Crete Photography Escape is a four-day photography workshop for beginners and enthusiasts, run in small groups of four to six participants. Each day combines a photography excursion with practical teaching: camera settings and composition on day one, landscape and nature photography on day two, villages and local life on day three, and Golden Hour, storytelling and basic Lightroom editing on day four. Any camera is welcome, including a smartphone, and no previous experience is required. The price is EUR 895 per person, EUR 795 at the early-bird launch rate, and includes a professional instructor, private transport and all excursions. Departures run in spring (April and May), autumn (October and November) and early December, and each departure is confirmed once four participants have joined.

You do not just visit Crete. You learn how to photograph it. That distinction is the whole design of this workshop: every day is built around getting you into a landscape at the right hour with a camera in your hands and someone beside you who can explain why the picture is or is not working.
It is written for beginners. If you own a camera you have never taken off automatic, or a phone you suspect is capable of more than you are asking of it, you are exactly the person this is for. Professionals will find it too slow. That is deliberate — the group stays at four to six people so nobody is ever waiting their turn to ask a question.
Four days, four themes, and a lot of walking between them. Mornings and evenings are shooting sessions, because that is when the island gives you the light. The middle of the day is where the teaching, the reviewing and, on the last day, the editing happen. You will finish with a set of your own photographs that you actually understand the making of.
The exact locations shift with the weather, the season and the light, and we do not pretend otherwise. What does not change is the teaching, the group size and the fact that the instructor stays with you for all four days.

Good to know
Do I need to be a good photographer already?+
No. The workshop is written for beginners and enthusiasts, and day one starts at the camera's own controls. If you have never left automatic mode you are in the right place. Working professionals will find the pace too slow.
What camera do I need?+
Whatever you own. DSLR, mirrorless, compact and smartphone are all supported, and the teaching is adapted to the cameras that turn up. Camera equipment is not provided, so bring what you intend to keep using afterwards.
How does booking work if the departure is not confirmed?+
The workshop needs four participants to run, so joining is a request rather than an instant confirmation. You send a request to join, we hold your place, and the departure is confirmed in writing once four people have committed. Nothing is charged before that.
When does the workshop run?+
In three seasonal editions: April and May, October and November, and early December. Early December departures are subject to the minimum group size and to workable weather, because the island is quieter and the conditions are less predictable.
Is accommodation included?+
No. Accommodation, flights and travel insurance are not included, so you are free to stay where and how you prefer. Ask us when you enquire and we will suggest options near the base and can arrange a room as an add-on.
Will the locations be exactly as listed?+
The themes and the teaching are fixed; the exact locations are not. Weather, season and light decide where a given session gives you the best pictures, and the instructor will move a day around rather than shoot a mediocre location on schedule.
